Primary 3/4 enjoyed a day of practical lessons today to round out the week.
They measured different areas of the school using a trundle wheel! First estimating how many metres they thought each would be, then counting the metres to record the true measurement. The classroom, school corridor, assembly hall, entrance ramp and playground were all investigated.
The second lesson was a WAU centred lesson in relation to rain. The pupils played weather bingo to begin, guessing the type of weather from the sound they heard and crossing it off if they had it. Following this, they discovered how rain is formed. A science experiment ‘Rain-Cloud in a Cup’ was then carried out to imitate the process. The pupils filled a cup with water and topped it with shaving foam. Pipettes were then used to drop blue food colouring on top. The result: a cloud raining down into the clear cup below!
